November is here, and for many growing business owners, it’s that time of year when the “to-do” list multiplies faster than your revenue. If you’re like the entrepreneurs with whom I work —especially those building without a safety net—you started your business with a clear vision. But lately, you might be feeling the pinch of one frustrating problem:
The urgent always seems to outrun the important.
You spend your morning battling email, your afternoon chasing invoices, and by the time you look up, the day is gone. You’ve been busy—but did you actually move the needle on what matters?
This is a common trap for growing business owners. Your company has clients or customers, so you and your team get busy servicing rather selling. It’s all too easy to get stuck in execution mode, and there’s data to back me up:
Studies show that 82% of entrepreneurs lack a formal time management system, and more than half of their work hours are spent on low-value tasks. The result? Burnout, missed revenue opportunities, and a feast-or-famine cycle that keeps cash flow unpredictable. In fact, 75% of women entrepreneurs in particular, earn less than $50K annually—and only 12% break six figures. Not because they lack talent, but because they’re stuck in execution mode without consistent sales systems.
I’ve experienced this firsthand. There have been seasons where I was so deep in building something meaningful—like when I was developing Luna Launchpad®—that I looked up months later and realized revenue had taken a back seat. That taught me something critical:
Consistency isn’t optional—it’s essential.
One way to stay consistent is by setting aside a Business Building Block. This is a short, focused time (20 – 30 minutes) where you will be intentional about driving revenue for your company.
Here’s how to make it work:
- Plan It. Before your block begins, you need a clear, specific list of daily actions. This isn’t the time to brainstorm—it’s about knowing exactly what you’ll do when the block starts. Your list might include things like calling warm leads, sending follow-up emails, reaching out to referral partners, posting a testimonial, or sending proposals. The goal is to make your actions repeatable and results driven.
- Do It. Set aside 30 minutes each day. This is your protected time to execute the actions on your list before the day gets away from you. I like to do mine first thing in the morning before my team comes in. Whatever you choose, put it on your calendar like any other meeting—and treat it like one.
- Track It. Record what you did and what results came from it. Tracking builds momentum and helps you see the direct impact of your consistency. Even if the results aren’t immediate, you’ll start to notice patterns—and progress.
If you’re missing pieces—like a call script, email template, or pricing guide—AI tools can help you build those assets in minutes. No more waiting to get it perfect. You can generate outreach scripts, draft follow-ups, create pricing one-pagers, or personalize LinkedIn messages—all within your Business Building Block.
